Every pet should have a vet

WHO ARE WE?

Vets in the Community is a project set up to provide free veterinary care to pets belonging to homeless and vulnerable housed people in Nottingham.

We provide health checks, vaccinations, micro-chipping and treatment for fleas, worms and minor ailments. We can also provide advice on pet health care, for example nutrition and neutering. The clinic is led by students at the Vet School, under supervision from experienced, qualified members of staff.

The student team also fundraise and volunteer locally to raise awareness of the clinic. To date we have ran over 700 consultations for dogs, cats and rabbits, and even a ferret. Our clinic is becoming more and more popular with each month and our clientele is fast expanding.

OUR STORY

Vets in the Community was launched as a pilot project in 2012, with initial funding from Dogs Trust and the University of Nottingham's School of Veterinary medicine and donations from alumni and friends through the Cascade Grants Programme.

WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO?

The money we hope to raise will contribute towards being able to offer the following treatments to our clients:

  • Vaccines and microchips
  • Flea and worming
  • Pain relief
  • Eye and ear ointments
  • Rugs, blankets and muzzles
  • Food FIND US HERE

You don't need to give money to help us succeed! Please share this project with anyone you think would support us – on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, by email, telephone, in a chat over the fence or on your blog. In fact, share it with everyone you know as we think it's a great idea, and the more people who know about it, the more likely we are to make this work out brilliantly. - And we know we said you don't need to give money to help us, but we'd love it if you did! Keep up the fab work :) Laura

Such a good cause! Get donating people!

Good work for a good cause. Keep it going!!

I was unable to answer the first of the two quick questions, as there was no option for a graduate of another vet school.

I think this is a really amazing cause, helping vulnerable people help their pets when they are often their only comfort and helping Vet students gain valuable experience too. What's not to love

Such great work as pets are such an important support to those living rough.

My granddaughter is involved in this project and so I know about the great work you do.

Hope this helps! Keep up the amazing work. The Trusty Paws Clinic

This is such a great project! Keep going and be proud of everything you are doing :-)

Good luck with this initiative- too important (for so many reasons!) for this to fail.

Good luck Jenny and all involved in the Vets in the Community project !

Keep up the great work!

Such an important and worthwhile project.

Best of luck team :)
